A three-engined, three-seat, low-wing mail plane. Meant speed up the mail flights to the Netherlands East Indies, it suffered from persistent breakdowns.

The idea was to build a fast aircraft for only mail delivery purposes between the Netherlands and the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia). The idea came from the mind of the famous Dutch pilot D.L. Asjes and Lok too had for quite some time walked around with such ideas. The KLM transported both passengers and mail on this route with relatively slow Fokker F-XVIIIs (see my post concerning the Fokker F.XX “Zilvermeeuw”). The delivery of mail could be done cheaper and faster by using smaller and faster mail planes in the ideas of Lok and Asjes. The delivery of mail could be done cheaper and faster by using smaller and faster mail planes in the ideas of Lok and Asjes. With the support of some shipping societies and the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij (BPM) a study committee Snelpost Nederland-Indië was established.in 1933. The planning was that the 'Postjager’or ‘Mail hunter', of which construction had started in January 1933, would make a fast mail flight from to Batavia at end of that year.
The first flight from Amsterdam-Shiphol to Batavia started at 9th december 1933, but at the same day the flight had to be interrupted at Grottaglie (Italy) because of an engine failure. The mail taken over by the KLM-Fokker F.XVIII “de Pelikaan”, which in the same month made the famous Christmas mail-flight to the Dutch East Indies too, and arrived in Batavia in time. The flight was continued after repairs and the aircraft and the toestel made the distance Athene-Batavia in only 72 hours and 20 minutes at the 31th december 1933. Nvertheless the "Pelikaan” arrived back in Amsterdam at the 30th december. Not staisfied with the performance, the owner gave back the aircraft to Pander and Zoonen. The aircraft stood still for some time and was named “Panderjager”.

In 1934 the aircraft particpated in the MacRoberston Air Race from England to Australia. Gerrit Johannes Geysendorffer was the pilot, Dirk Lucas Asjes the co and Pieter Pronk the signalist. wearing the number "6", the aircraft started at the 20th october 1934 in London Mildenhall. After short stops in Leipzig (Germany) and Athens (Greece) the aircraft arrived in Bagdad (Iraq) in the eveneing of this day. On the next day the aircraft crashed landing in Allabad because of a left gear failure. The center and the middle propeller, the left engine cowling and the left landing gear were destroyed. At this moment the Panderjager took the 3rd place. The English "Grosvernor House" and the Dutch "Uiver" were leading the race. Geysendorffer hoped to overtake the Uiver at the next lag when the Panderjager crashed. Nwe propellers were not available in Karachi, and so Geysendorffer had to go to the next KLM-shop in Klakutta by train. Repair was finished on the evening of the 26th october. The Panderjager didn't have any chance, but Geysendorffer decided to start. The landing gear was not repaired and so Geysendorffer wanted to fly with extracted gear. He decided to start at the evening. He opted for a start in a southwesterly direction, as there was a longer-off distance available. But the headlights, which were used in the dark for the lighting of the runway, were in a northeasterly direction, and dazzled the crew at the start. Geijsendorffer pleased to clear the headlights and began the start. But the crew of the headlights had misunderstood the instructions, however, and began towing the headlights over the runway to a supposedly more favorable position for the start of the Panderjagerwith an unlighted ambulance car. The crew did not noticed that the plane has already started. When the Panderjager had reached a speed of 160 km / h just in front of the plane the headlights flashed on. Geijsendorffer was blinded but he could push up the aircraft, but he couldn't escape the lights anymore. The plane touched the spotlight with the right wing . The impact caused the right size tank on broke and the outgoing fuel ignited immediately. After 130 meters, the wreck came to lying. Geysendorffer and Asjes could extricate itself from the wreckage with burns, Pronk was unhurt. Under the burning car alternator, two technicians were rescued injured. The Panderjager was completely destroyed, Geysendorffer had the race now finally give up. After the disaster, the crew traveled back to the ship "Johan de Witt" to Genoa (arriving November 18, 1934) and then rode the train back to the Netherlands.

The aircraft got the nickname "Pechjager" (bad-luck-hunter) becuase of it's ill-fated and short life. The end of the Panderjager was both the end of the construction (no more S4 was built) and the company Pander & Zoon en as airplane manufacturers.
